Angels by Day, Springfield House is located next to Hucknall within a short 5- 10 min drive; you will pass by us on your way to the city centre or passing to the A610; we are very central between Bulwell and Hucknall. You can also get a bus or tram from Hucknall to our nursery in Bulwell; if you work in the city centre, we have a park and ride just one road across from the nursery (Moor Bridge), and we are on many bus routes with a bus stop either side of the road from our setting.

Flexibility
We offer childcare for those aged 6 weeks- 5yrs and also run a after school club/ holiday club for those in reception-12yrs. Our opening times are 7.30-18.30pm we also have sessions available including half days, long half days and we accept the government funding.
Enrolement
We encourage parents to sign up early to avoid the disappointment of being full; our toddler and pre-school, in particular, become very busy. We do offer free settling-in sessions to ensure both parents and children are happy and settled; this would take place the week before the child’s start date. We encourage all clients to come and have a look around the nursery, and it’s always a good idea to view a few to compare and get a feel for which one is right for you and your family. Parents are welcome to visit without a booking, although if booked in, we can ensure you will see us at a time when children are all awake and engaged in play.
Angels by Day offers a discount of 15%, which will be deducted for a second child in the same immediate family attending the main nursery simultaneously. This discretionary discount will be offered up until the point where government funding in the form of 15 or 30 hours commences.
Our Team
We pride ourselves on having a hard-working and passionate team with lots of qualified staff, but we also welcome training practitioners. We have three rooms here at Springfield: our baby room 0-2yrs with a ratio of 1:3, toddler room 2-3yrs with a ratio of 1:4 and pre-school 3-4yrs with a ratio of 1:8, which follows our government guidelines. Each room will have a room leader and staff based in their room, with a keyworker to give the children consistency. Whilst we do occasionally have new staff, we also have staff that have been with Angels for 10+ years. Our Manager has been with us for 18 years, starting in 2002.
Parent engagement
We are always looking for ways of more parent engagement where we welcome our parents into our setting for ‘stay and play’ sessions; if English is an additional language, we have parents come in and do short sessions teaching our children their home languages. Angels By Day offer parents evening face-to-face twice a year as well as questionnaires to listen to the parent’s points of view or suggestions. We had a successful coffee morning, inviting professionals in to share what is available for our parents in their local community.
We have regular visits to our local care home with our preschool children, which parents love. The residents share crafts and stories with the children, and we also sang them Christmas carols recently. We will organise trips the farm or local park to allow the children to get out and explore their environments, we particularly have regular visits to our local woods for foraging and splashing in puddles!
Safety
Safety is our priority, and to safeguard the children, we have a biometrics system which has a magnet lock to our front door; unless you have your fingerprints taken in our office, you will not be able to enter our building; you have to ring the doorbell and wait. For assitance. All unfamiliar people are signed in by a staff member, and ID is asked to be provided, and they will not be left to roam the nursery.
Our garden gate has a padlock, which is locked at all times; we also have CCTV recording all around the nursery outside and in the rooms. This is to protect staff as well as children. All of our staff are DBS checked, and they all join the update service, which allows us to regularly check their suitability throughout being employed by Angels by Day.

Do you provide meals for the children?
Yes, we provide nutritious meals and snacks, catering to all dietary requirements. Our food is prepared and cooked daily by our cook; we order our meat from our local butchers and cater to all the children’s individual needs. None is too tricky for us.
How do you support children with SEN?
We have staff specifically trained in special education needs, and they support the children with individual plans and targets to help further their development. We engage with other professionals, make prompt referrals where needed for 1:1 support or speech therapy and help signpost families. Angels have brought families into our setting to model positive interaction and support families on how to manage SEN children at home, giving advice. We adapt to the children in regard to resources, activities and needs.
